MLB Preview June 29: Dodgers Rolling, Brewers Test Reds, Nola Hosts Pittsburgh

OddsShift · Jun 29, 2026

The Los Angeles Dodgers (54-30) are the class of baseball right now, and they don't slow down tonight in Oakland. Eric Lauer draws the start against Gage Jump and the Athletics (40-44). Lauer is a back-end starter getting a favorable draw here — the A's offense has been inconsistent all season, and LA's run support has been among the best in the league. This is the kind of game the Dodgers are supposed to win, and lately they have been doing exactly that.

In Milwaukee, the Brewers (50-31) are putting together one of the better seasons in the NL and send Robert Gasser to the mound against the Reds (39-43). Cincinnati has been treading water all year, and Nick Lodolo has not been enough to stabilize their rotation. Milwaukee at home with a dominant record is a tough spot for any team, let alone one hovering four games under .500.

Aaron Nola gets the ball for Philadelphia against a Pittsburgh Pirates squad sitting exactly at .500 (42-42). Braxton Ashcraft starts for the Bucs. The Phillies (47-37) have been one of the more reliable teams in the NL this season, and Nola at Citizens Bank Park is a tough assignment for a Pittsburgh lineup that has not exactly been punishing pitchers.

A few other things worth watching tonight: Parker Messick and the Guardians (44-40) host a Texas Rangers team also sitting at .500, making that one a genuine toss-up. And George Kirby takes on the Angels in Seattle — the Mariners (42-43) need a win to stay relevant, and Kirby against a weak LA Angeles lineup is a solid spot for them to get one.

Thirteen games on the board tonight. Plenty of angles to work.
